Why Do My Stickers Have a White Background in GoodNotes?
Q: I downloaded my clipart collection and imported it into GoodNotes, but now all the stickers have a white background. What happened?
When you import a ZIP file or PNGs directly into GoodNotes (by choosing “Open in GoodNotes” or dragging them in), GoodNotes treats those images as documents, not stickers.
That means each PNG is placed on a page as a flat background image — and during that process, GoodNotes removes transparency and replaces it with white.
So even though your original PNGs are transparent, GoodNotes flattens them into the page.
You’ll notice:
-
A solid white box around each sticker.
-
The Lasso Tool won’t select or move them.
-
You can’t layer them over planner pages.
This is a GoodNotes import behavior, not an issue with the files themselves.
Q: How can I import my stickers the correct way so they stay transparent?
To keep your stickers crisp, clear, and movable, always insert them using the Image Tool inside GoodNotes instead of importing them as files.
Here’s how:
-
Unzip your download in the Files app first (don’t open it directly in GoodNotes).
-
Open your GoodNotes planner or notebook.
-
Tap the Image Tool (the little mountain-and-sun icon on the toolbar).
-
Tap Photos or Files, and navigate to the folder with your PNGs.
-
Tap a sticker to insert it onto your page.
✅ The image will appear with a transparent background, ready to move and resize.
💡 Tip: When using the Lasso Tool, tap the gear icon and make sure Images is toggled ON so you can move your stickers freely.
Our clipart files are typically delivered as high-resolution PNG files with transparent backgrounds, perfect for layering in digital designs or print projects. Digital planners come as interactive PDF files.
Absolutely! All of our designs are high-resolution (300 DPI) and suitable for printing. If you're printing clipart on sticker paper, we recommend using full-sheet sticker paper and a cutting tool or scissors. Planner pages can be printed on standard paper sizes — just make sure to select the right scale settings on your printer.
Our digital planners and stickers are designed to work best with apps like GoodNotes, Notability, Noteful, ZoomNotes, etc. on iPad/tablet devices. You’ll need a PDF annotation app and a stylus (like the Apple Pencil) for full functionality.

Digital Use Terms: ⭐️ The clipart must be incorporated into your own unique designs when used for any digital products. This means you cannot resell, redistribute, or offer the individual clipart files as-is in digital format. ⭐️ You may use the clipart in digital end products for sale, such as invitations, posters, cards, digital planners, and other creative works, as long as the clipart is part of a larger, original design. ⭐️ The digital clipart cannot be used in products that are offered for free in a way that allows others to extract and reuse the files as individual elements.
Print Use Terms: ⭐️ For print-on-demand (POD) products, the clipart can be used as-is without modification. This include items such as clothing, mugs, stationery, and other physical goods. ⭐️ You may use the clipart in physical end products for sale, whether incorporated into a design or used as-is for print purposes.
